School Superintendent’s Message

No Tax Rate Increase

The challenge in creating a school budget is maintaining our quality educational program while being financially responsible.  We are proposing that the tax rate remain the same for Fort Edward taxpayers.  At the same time, we are not proposing any layoffs or drastic cuts to education.  We will leave two teaching positions vacant after retirements in June.  We plan to save money on energy usage, and have reduced spending on supplies, materials, transportation, and athletic uniforms.  Along with balancing the budget for next year, it is important to be financially responsible in planning for our school’s future and have developed a long-term budget that is in the best interest of the Fort Edward School Community. 

Please come to our public hearing on the budget on Tuesday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and the annual budget vote will take place on Tuesday, May 18. 

As in the past, we appreciate your support for the school and the quality of education our students receive.
