District Technology Plan

Our mission is to provide a safe environment where ALL students are nurtured to
actively acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to reach their full potential.

Fort Edward UFSD aspires to cultivate adaptable, lifelong learners who are empowered to navigate an ever-changing technology landscape with integrity and confidence. By fostering digital safety and critical thinking at all levels utilizing up-to-date tools, we prepare every student to be an 'ethical practitioner'—one capable of leveraging AI and emerging tools to discern credible source material, ensuring they are future-ready to succeed as responsible citizens in a complex global society.

Starting in the 2026–27 school year, Fort Edward is proud to expand learning possibilities by providing a dedicated mobile device to every single student across all grade levels. This initiative ensures that all learners have equitable access to the digital tools and resources they need to discover, create, and succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

Goal One: Fiscally Responsible Equitable Access

By June 30, 2029, the district will implement a fiscally responsible and transparent three to four-year equipment refresh cycle to ensure 100% of staff and students have a dedicated mobile device, fulfilling the belief that all students can succeed when provided with a safe and positive learning environment.

Goal Two: Innovative Instruction & Student Responsibility 

By the end of the 2028-2029 school year, the district will utilize innovative methods of
instruction and high expectations to implement a K-12 digital fluency curriculum that
empowers every student to develop responsibility for their own education.

Goal Three: Character, Belonging, and Community Partnership 

Throughout the plan cycle, 100% of staff will participate in professional development
focused on creating a sense of belonging in digital spaces and using technology to partner
with families and the community to promote citizenship, integrity, and strong moral
character.

Sustained Effort to Improve Performance and Standards:

• Data-Informed Instruction: Utilize Data Dashboards, iReady, and Wonders to track performance, identify gaps, and provide targeted interventions.
• Next Generation Alignment: Adapt curriculum towards Next Gen Standards, ensuring students acquire 21st-century skills to be "Future Ready".
• Professional Growth: Sustained, job-embedded professional development; staff collaboration in PLCs to refine instructional practices.

Equitable Learning "Everywhere, All the Time":

• Seamless 1:1 Access: Dedicated mobile devices ensure learning is unbound by place or time.
• Addressing Barriers: Identify and address barriers to attendance/participation, specifically targeting vulnerable populations (students with disabilities, ELLs, socio-economic challenges).
• Inclusive Environments: Provide multiple pathways for students to demonstrate understanding, accommodating different learning styles and cultural backgrounds.

Community and Fiscal Responsibility:

• Maintain a sustainable infrastructure supporting high-speed connectivity while keeping the community informed through a comprehensive digital communication plan. 
• Smart Schools Bond Act: Responses align with the district’s Smart Schools Investment Plan (SSIP).
