Fort Edward Blood Drive A Success

Fort Edward Students Donate Blood to Save Lives

We would like to say thank you to all the Fort Edward students and staff who donated blood during our annual Red Cross Blood Drive. We had over 20 people choose to donate this year. For many of them it was their first time ever giving. There's a 1-2 day national reserve for blood in the U.S., far under what officials would like to see. Members of the Red Cross stressed the importance of "taking the time" to donate and that it was a great civic duty and responsibility to do so. Many first-time donates said they would be doing it again in the future. Every donation saves 3 lives as it is separated into platelets, plasma, and red cells. Each part can keep a surgery going for an hour. Kids who donated got a thank you from the Red Cross as well as a tote bag and donor card.
