Philosophy: We at Fort Edward school believe that a healthy, safe and a well nourished child is the best learner.

Reminder NYS requires a physical exam for new entrants and students in grades pre-K or K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11. NYS also requires physical exams annually for interscholastic sports, working papers, and as required by the Committee on Special Education (CSE). The date of examination must not be more than 12 months prior to the start of the school year and noted on the form. Immunizations should be updated yearly for all students.

Please keep your school nurse updated on your child's health status, such as surgeries, medications, illness/diseases, new diagnoses or other conditions that may affect your child's school performance. Please make sure the emergency card is completed, signed and updated as needed.

    • Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye) - Antibiotic Drops for 24 hours before returning to school.

    • Sore Throat/Colds/Coughs - Minor cold symptoms are common and usually don't interfere with school attendance.
    • Rash - Accompanied with other symptoms such as fever/sore throat/vomiting should not attend school.
    • Vomiting and Diarrhea - A child should be free from vomiting and/or diarrhea for 24 hours before returning to school.
